PAVAS -TSD Reversing

Sometimes things go wrong. In TSD events it is quite possible that a navigation error may occur and the vehicle may make a turn that takes it off the correct stage path. The normal approach with a mechanical navigation system was to drive the vehicle in reverse along the erroneous route so that the mechanical distance would be removed from the total distance travelled.

PAVAS simplifies this process in the TSD menu by providing a Reversing function. This is engaged by pressing the Down Button after the TSD event has started. Subsequent wheel pulses are subtracted from the total number of wheel pulses and thus remove the erroneous distance from the total distance travelled. The display shows REVERSING!!! while this process is occurring. Once the vehicle is back on the correct stage path, the Up button is pressed to cancel the reversing mode. The wheel pulse are now accumulated and the distance travelled, increases. All timing functions as still active so the required average speed is calculated correctly. The vehicle can be driven in the forward or reverse directions depending on the conditions and the driver's preference.

Note that in Launch Mode, the Up and Down buttons are used to abort the the TSD start and place the unit back for the restart conditions. The mode is only active for approximately 500 meters. After a start is detected in Launch Mode, the display shows AAA which indicates the TSD start can be aborted and the stage restarted.

Note: Due to the way the Up and Down buttons are used in TSD demonstration mode, the Reversing function is not available.
